My background is small animal practice. I set up from scratch in 1988 and had 4 years as a single handed practitioner, so I have first-hand knowledge of the pressures of OOH cover. In 1992 I opened the first Hospital in North Yorkshire, I’m proud of our team and our great facility. We love our equipment – but we recognise that real clients with real money pay for it.
My “special interest” is dentistry and I founded Pet Smile Month, which involves over 1500 practices providing free dental assessments, benefiting patients and practices. I lecture on dentistry and provide hands-on practitioner oriented tutorials.
I am a Past President of the Hospitals Association and have over 15 years experience of involvement developing Practice Standards. I served on BVA’s Council, Members’ Services and MRSA Groups. I was a founder member of the British Veterinary Dental Association and served as Treasurer. I was also BSAVA’s Congress committee Treasurer and, in addition to the above; I’m a member of SPVS, EVDS & VPMA.
I enjoy food and wine too much to ever be fit, but I ran the London Marathon again in 2009, raising over £1700 for Cancer Research, a cause close to my heart.
